
SOLIDELE IA501 – THE OPTIMAL ALL-IN-ONE SYSTEM
We have launched our premier product, the all-in-one Solidele IA501 stereo integrated amplifier. This is a groundbreaking event for our company, a culmination of many years of effort. On this occasion, we present to you the account of this undertaking, as related by Solidele Research and Development employees.
The design process of the IA501 amplifier was complicated and in many respects demanding. It was necessary to combine a number of opposing assumptions in a single device: good sound quality, compact design with small dimensions, relatively high output power, unparalleled durability and an excellent value for the money. We had to demand a lot from ourselves and set the bar high – it was obvious from the beginning that our premier product must stand out with its quality. Such are the expectations of the market. During the design process, we often had to make compromise decisions. However, we have made a lot of effort to find solutions that would allow us to maximise the practical aspects important to the user: sound quality, reliability, functionality and convenience of use.
We built twenty-two more prototypes using state-of-the-art CAD/CAE tools that greatly accelerate the design process. Working on a modern integrated amplifier system is a multi-dimensional endeavour and involves many tasks – from designing mathematically complex signal processing algorithms, to developing machining strategies for housing elements, to developing the aesthetics and ergonomics.
The major part of the work was related to programming and testing the device. We devoted a lot of time to listening. We got both experienced music lovers and young musicians (whose hearing is most responsive) involved. This part of the design process was the most enjoyable – we had the opportunity to meet interesting people and listen to music we hadn’t known before.
With the use of modern technologies we have developed an all-in-one system in a compact housing, with a base not much larger than an A4 paper sheet, that contains a sizeable collection of analog and digital inputs, a universal expansion socket, a digital pre-amplifier with extensive features, an advanced digital-analog processing system and, of course, a stereo power amplifier with a high-performance power supply.
With all these subsystems, their size, complexity and costs we achieved an optimal balance that provided the best parameters for the envisioned conditions. Although we have considerable practical experience in the design of electronic devices, both in the scope of world-class measurement systems and systems that aid in the saving of human life, the IA501 project lasted the longest and involved the most effort in our professional history.
We are convinced that we give you a refined product that is ready for many years of reliable operation and able to adapt to new needs through easy software updates and replacement of optional hardware interfaces. These qualities enable us to continue our work on developing the IA501.
We hope that the IA501 brings you even more joy than we have had working on this system.
